Songwriting workshop with Henri
On Friday we joined forces with the Cycling Giants to learn a bit about music and songwriting. We started by clapping different rhythms, and followed by writing a round about baking cookies. I think we were all pretty hungry by the time playgroup was over!
Sunny days
Despite the sub-zero temperatures we've been dealing with, we're happy to see the sun out in full force. As long as we're bundled up in our layers, there's plenty of fun stuff to do outside.

Black Ice: David Blackwood
Last week, we took a trip to the AGO to see the exhibit of prints by Newfoundland artist David Blackwood. We learned about his printmaking process and had fun playing with a giant map of Newfoundland before heading upstairs to have a look at the large paintings by Patterson Ewan.

Riverdale Farm
After a really long streetcar ride, we made it to Cabbagetown and took a walk around Riverdale Farm.
It was a pretty icy day, and the kids enjoyed cracking the ice in frozen puddles.
We also saw some horses, sheep, chickens, and turkeys.
And then we headed over to the cemetery next door to look for the oldest tombstone we could find. Apparently there was one grave dated back to the 1600s (although I didn't get to see it!).

Making Paper
We tried making paper this week, which involved boiling up old paper in a pot, and then blending it! We thought it looked like paper soup.
And then we placed the "soup" on homemade screens to flatten out and dry. The kids added some fancy sparkly red paper to the mix to liven it up.
